Safety Seminar – Colorado School of Mines EMCIS program
The Energy, Mining, & Construction Industry Safety Program at the Colorado School of Mines will be offering a one day safety seminar on September 27, 2018 from 8 am to 5 pm. Topics for the seminar will include presentations from Attorneys, MSHA, EMCIS staff, and Industry Safety Consultants. Two prominent MSHA attorneys, Mark Savit with Husch Blackwell, and Laura Beverage from Jackson Kelly have accepted invitations to speak along with MSHA local district managers or their designee.
The seminar will be exploring fatigue in mining, indicators for determining alertness, factors affecting your brain and how this relates to safety, as well as the MSHA updates.
Scheduled Topics (subject to change) are:
- Handling MSHA Inspections and Investigations
- Determining Employee Alertness & Impairment Using Leading Indicators like the “Alertmeter”
- MSHA Metal/Non-Metal update (including Workplace Exams)
- MSHA Coal update (including Proximity Detection Systems)
- Improved Performance in Mine Safety
- Stress, Fatigue and your Brain
All topics are relevant to today’s mining industry and should appeal to Mine Managers, Safety Personnel, Human Resources Managers, Union Personnel, and Contractors in the Mining Industry.
Enrollment will be limited to the first 50 who register. Cost will be $85 for the seminar, which includes lunch. Students may register for $25. The seminar will be held at the American Mountaineering Museum located at 710 10th Street, Golden, CO.
