The committee advises other standing committees of pending legislation or rulemaking affecting their sphere of responsibility and consults with those committees on actions to be taken.  In addition, the committee informs the membership of legislation affecting the mineral industry and generates “feedback” in support of or opposition to specific legislation.  The committee also arranges for inter-association cooperation on specific matters, evaluates trends that might have future legislative impact and maintains contact with federal legislative and administrative officials on mineral industry matters.
